Innovative Approach for Enhancing GLULAM Performance with Reinforcing Steel Bars: A BESO-based Study

Glued-Laminated Timber (GLULAM) is a widely-used building material, popular for its strength, durability, and sustainability. It created by bonding together layers of wood, making it common choice civil structures. In this study, Bi-directional Evolutionary Structural Optimization (BESO) proposed to improve the performance GLULAM By positioning steel bars within structure, objective increase structure's stiffness enhance structural integrity. To achieve this, study introduces concept sub-design domain utilizes optimization theory determine optimal placement bars. The finite element problem solved using ANSYS software, while topological MATLAB software. use domains enables reinforcements be determined. results demonstrate potential approach enhancing integrity structures under static loads.
